San Juan Trading Post is owned and operated locally by Tom, Ellen, Tad, & Ryan Beavers. The Beavers family moved to Pagosa Springs in 1999 and quickly fell in love with the crisp mountain air, the scenic views, and the outdoor activities that come with living in Colorado.
Sum total, We’ve spent 17 years growing to love this small community. Granted, we haven’t all been here the whole time. In 2003, Ryan moved to Durango, spent several years going to school and exploring the La Plata Area. After school, he moved out West and found his way into Yosemite Valley where he spent several years guiding horses and climbing the big walls of Yosemite, like El Cap. Then about 5 years ago, he moved to Columbus, Ohio where he got his start in the Pawn Trade. After a few more years learning the ropes of buying, selling, and managing at one of the largest pawn chains in Columbus, Ryan moved back to Pagosa to try his skills in the Colorado Rockies.
Tad moved out to Boulder in 2007 for school and then to Bellingham, WA in 2011. Since then, he’s picked up photography and is helping the shop abroad, taking photos and other projects, like setting up this website. Tom and Ellen, meanwhile, have been mainstays of Pagosa, in and around town for over 15 years. When not in the shop, you’ll be certain to see one of them around town.
